First-ever collection designed exclusively for Catawiki goes live on the platform this autumn, featuring exclusive rugs by Studiopepe and Ege Carpets
The three designs, available at first from 17 to 26 October, reflect a commitment to craft, emotion, and sustainable production
Amsterdam, 16 October - This autumn, Catawiki, the leading online marketplace for special objects, will debut its first-ever design collaboration, created exclusively for the platform: a limited-edition series of contemporary carpets designed by the Milanese design studio Studiopepe and brought to life by the Danish manufacturer Ege Carpets. This is a cross-border collaboration, and reflects a story of design driven by emotion and craft. The series of rugs—three designs in three sizes—will be available on Catawiki, for the first time, from 17 to 26 October 2025, and will continue to be featured in curated auctions across the platform in the months that follow.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared belief in material intelligence, tactile storytelling, and the power of objects to carry more than visual appeal. The result is not simply a series of fresh designs, but a collection shaped by intuition, imperfection, and presence.
Studiopepe—founded by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto in Milan—is celebrated for its rigorous language of form, with designs that are at once grounded and ethereal, drawing on architecture, art, nature, and archetype. Speaking of this collaboration, the designers note: “We were intrigued by the idea of creating something that lives digitally first, but remains deeply tactile. Designing for Catawiki, an online-first platform, meant thinking about how emotion and materiality could translate through the screen,” they compliment: ”It pushed us to focus on storytelling, imagery, and the tactile promise of the pieces—how they could resonate even before being touched.”

A months-long creative exchange between Studiopepe and Ege carpets, the Danish manufacturer, resulted in three design pieces. The rugs—woven from recyclable materials as part of Ege’s closed-loop manufacturing—echo hand-drawn gestures: marks in clay, brushstrokes on fabric, impressions left behind by movement. “It’s a tribute to the beauty of process and imperfection. We hope they invite stillness, curiosity, and a sense of calm, rather than embody loud statements," the designers reflect. Each rug offers a distinct mood, yet all are tied by a common language: forms that feel elemental but never obvious. The materials have been thoughtfully selected and sustainably sourced, carrying the taste of Scandinavian production and the expressive sensibility of Italian design.

“Unlike traditional design retail, we are not defined by brand silos or singular aesthetics. We celebrate the mix: where a limited-edition carpet by Studiopepe and Ege carpets can live alongside a Brutalist sideboard, a Memphis lamp, or a centuries-old tapestry,” said Morten Joergensen, VP of Interiors at Catawiki. “With a strong curational spirit, at Catawiki we’re proud to be an ecosystem where pioneering designers and brands can flourish. In doing so, we stay true to our mission–enabling people to collate their taste, personality, and story through design. ”
Eléonore Floret, design expert at Catawiki, added: “This is a rare kind of opportunity for our community. Our buyers are used to discovering unique objects, but this time, they can be part of a moment that’s more than just browsing through design, but witnessing it take shape,” she says. “It has been an absolute joy to work so closely with such visionary talents.”
