Ahead of the British pop singer’s 90th birthday, Engelbert Humperdinck’s 1970 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI will be auctioned exclusively on Catawiki

Live starting from 10th to 26th of April, the car owned by the singer for nearly 40 years is estimated up to €185,000

Amsterdam, 9 April - As the world continues to embrace various waves of nostalgia-driven decade revivals, collectors and fans alike have a chance to own a piece of traditional pop and automotive history. Ahead of the King of Romance celebrating his 90th birthday next month, British singer Engelbert Humperdinck’s 1970 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI is coming onto auction on Catawiki, the leading online marketplace for special objects.

Engelbert Humperdinck, the man who introduced Elvis Presley to side burns and ended The Beatles’ 4 year #1 UK chart hit streak, is four time grammy nominated and has sold 150 million records world wide. About to turn 90 next month, Humperdinck is still touring and releasing new music. In 2022, his song "A Man Without Love" became the unofficial theme song for the Marvel series Moon Knight, resulting in a tiktok trend and reintroducing his music to new generations: Gen Z and Millennials.

From the charts to the streets

Matching the smooth, luxurious and late 60s and 70s style of his music, the connection between Humperdinck and the Rolls Royce is only natural. Along with his manager and fellow singer Tom Jones, the three of them became known as the “Rolls-Royce Brigade” for the spectacle they created with their cars. Throughout the years Humperdinck, a clear enthusiast of the car brand, built a collection of 14 Rolls Royces. Now, 1 of these 14 will be open for bidding on Catawiki.

A Late 60s Gem

Aside from its famous owner, the vehicle on its own is already hard to come by. Only 374 of this model were made over a period of 22 years, an average of only 15-16 per year- a fair amount went to members of royal families across Europe for its diplomatic and prestigious flair. Estimated at €165,000-€185,000, it has its preserved complete plush blue velvet interior and was in Humperdincks’ possession for nearly four decades, until 2009.

The car contains documentation confirming previous ownership by Engelbert Humperdinck, including a UK registration certificate issued in his name.

“With just 374 of these produced over more than two decades, the Phantom VI is already a rare sight. When you combine that with nearly 40 years of ownership by a globally famous musician like Engelbert Humperdinck, you’re looking at a car that sits at the intersection of automotive history and pop culture.” says Arjan Rietveld, Expert Classic Cars at Catawiki.

The auction is live on Catawiki from 10 to 26 April 2026.
