Singer and TV host Sandra Reemer represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest on 3 separate occasions, gracing the world with her incredible vocal abilities. Her sudden passing in June this year was a shock to us all. To pay tribute to her memory, we will host a fashion exhibition and special Sandra Reemer Collection auction, at the request of her family. The special auction was a wish of Sandra Reemer as she wanted to release some of her personal belongings to the public. Iconic clothing, including the 3 Eurovision dresses, jewellery, paintings, and the grand piano on which her 1979 Eurovision entry 'Colorado' was composed are all up for auction. A large part of the proceeds of the auction will be donated to charity. Read on to discover more about this special auction and where to view the Eurovision dresses in person.
The Eurovision Dresses
This special Sandra Reemer Collection auction is led by none other than Dutch fashion designer Addy van den Krommenacker. He said of the special auction: “Sandra and I were very good friends. Because of wearing my clothes, she stood at the beginning of my career as a fashion designer. This auction includes some very special objects that will help us remember the beautiful career Sandra had”. On October 17 (2017), Sandra’s birthday, Addy opened an exhibition in his couture shop. At this exhibition he showed the dresses that are up for auction at Catawiki.

Apart from the beautiful dresses, some very special objects will be included in the auction which will surely appeal to fans of art, celebrities and fashion. “A lot of people don’t know that apart from being a singer, Sandra was an art collector at heart.” A highlight in this auction is a painting by Anton Heyboer from 1978. In addition to the clothes that Addy van den Krommenacker designed, Sandra also had a wide variety of clothes from designers such as Gianni Versace and Thierry Mugler.

All the items in the auction are offered by family members of Sandra Reemer. Because of the size of Sandra’s estate, the family decided to only keep the items of which they had special memories; the rest they offered up for auction at Catawiki. In this way collectors and fans of Sandra Reemer will have the opportunity to bid on these special items and to keep the memory of Sandra alive.
Historic Grand Piano
The pride of place of this auction definitely goes to the grand piano with musical and historical significance. This pianoforte was used to compose the song 'Colorado' with which Reemer competed at Eurovision in 1979. Sandra only came in 12th with the song and it went on to became a hit in many European countries.
