You might think there is not much left to know about the most recognised brand in the world - 'Coca-Cola', but there are probably a few things you haven't heard. See for yourself and check how many things you knew.
1. The first Coca-Cola formula contained cocaine
In 1886 John Stith Pemberton invented the first ever Coca-Cola formula, which he then called 'French Wine Coca'. His goal was to create a nerve tonic in order to fight his addiction to morphine, but he claimed that the beverage could also cure depression and anxiety, and had aphrodisiac features. The formula contained damiana and coca leaves.
2. The name 'Coca-Cola' is the second most recognised term in the world
Right after 'OK', the brand name 'Coca-Cola' is apparently the most recognised term by people worldwide. As for the red-white brand logo, it is said to be known by 94% of the world. And no wonder! The 'Coca-Cola Company' spends more on advertising than Microsoft and Apple combined, or to be more precise - 3 billion for 2011!
3. The secret 'Coca-Cola' formula has been protected in a vault for almost 100 years
Apparently the company has been protecting the secret 'Coca-Cola' formula in a vault since the 1920’s. It was only in 2011 that this vault was featured in the World of Coca Cola exhibit in Atlanta. What’s mind-blowing about the secret formula is that only two employees at a time are allowed to know the recipe and must be approved by the board beforehand. It must be one hell of a formula!
4. There are much more 'Coca-Cola' products, than you think
It’s hard to pinpoint an exact number, but it is known that the product portfolio of the 'Coca-Cola Company' has over 3,500 types of beverages and over 500 brands! This means that if you were to drink a different beverage from the company every single day, it would take you around 9 years to taste them all!
5. Coke for all!
The average person worldwide consumes a 'Coca-Cola' product every 4 days and there are around 1,7 billion servings of per day. Now that’s a lot of Coke!
