Descripción del vendedor
Roland Ladwig (1935–2014)
Before the Storm
Oil on canvas, dated 1996.
Expressive and highly atmospheric original work by the German painter Roland Ladwig, executed in his characteristic gestural style with rich impasto and powerful palette-knife textures.
The painting comes directly from the private collection of close personal friends of the artist and was given as a personal gift by Ladwig to the original owner.
According to the provenance provided by the family, the work was inspired by a gathering on the terrace of their home as a storm approached.
Fruit and objects on the table were caught in the growing wind, creating a fleeting and dramatic scene that the artist later transformed into this emotionally charged composition.
The reverse bears a handwritten personal dedication by the artist, referring to a humorous and personal anecdote between the artist and the recipient.
The painting is presented in its original silver-toned wooden frame.
A small area along the lower edge of the frame reveals the underlying layer, visible only on close inspection and easily retouchable if desired (picture shown).
