Figura - Good size finely modelled Japanese HIRADO pottery figure of a seated monkey - Loza de barro, Alfarería - Japón - Periodo Meiji (1868 -1912)
A finely modelled Japanese HIRADO pottery figure of a seated monkey, dating from the Meiji period (1868–1912).
The monkey is rendered in a naturalistic pose with carefully incised fur, expressive facial features and finely detailed hands and feet. The figure is covered in a soft white glaze. There is a small aperture near the hand and underside, suggesting that the figure may originally have held a separately fitted object or attribute, although this cannot be confirmed.
Size:
Length 11.7cm × Width 7.8cm × Height 11cm
Condition:
In excellent overall condition, with minor age-related surface marks. It is uncertain whether a small separately fitted object is missing from the hand. Please examine the photographs carefully.
