Glasfabriek Leerdam is the famous glass factory in Leerdam where many important designers worked or came with their designs.
Floris Meydam (Leerdam 1919 – Leerdam 2011). He started working at the Glass factory as an assistant in the marking department in 1935. In 1943/44 he took a glass decoration course at the Leerdam Glas School, where he would start working as a glass decoration teacher himself from 1944–47. In 1949 he became the head of the design division of Leerdam. Meydam designed glass panels, glass user items and packaging glass for series production and unica. The design of his glass user items and unica are quite similar to Scandinavian glass art from the 1950s–1970s.
