Capodimonte porcelain owes its name to the hillside area of Naples, where, in the mid 18th century, King Charles of Bourbon and his wife Maria Amalia of Saxony established the Royal Kiln of Capodimonte. Besides the items in the Museum of Capodimonte, the porcelain produced by this famous factory is also preserved in prestigious amounts in the Museum of the Duchy of Martina, at Villa Floridiana, the Museum of Filangieri and in the Museum of Diego Aragona Pignatelli Cortes.
