Beautiful expressionist oil on canvas by René Le Forestier
René Le Forestier (born in Pontivy on January 17, 1903 and died in Concarneau on September 4,1972) was a French painter who lived in Concarneau and mainly painted Brittany.
Initially trained as a hairdresser, René Le Forestier was a pupil of Arthur Midy and moved to Concarneau 14, Place Saint-Guénolé where he ran an art gallery, in the heart of the "Walled town" which he painted abundantly. A painter of great talent, he also made a lot of "food painting", that is to say small works quickly painted, but affordable for all. The many scenes he depicted were precious testimonies of life in Brittany throughout the decades of the mid 20th century
