La Grande Muraille de Chine. Jinshanlin. January 1997, (China)
Roland et Sabrina MICHAUD
A mythical couple of photographers, travellers and humanists, Roland and Sabrina MICHAUD have travelled the great spaces of Asia and the East for more than half a century in search of beauty and a sense of civilization.
With each expedition, they immersed themselves in the culture and temporal space of the country whose power and serenity they captured in photos: Buzkashi in Turkestan, Afghan in pink at the Tashkurgan Bazaar, eagle hunter in Mongolian Altai, Kyrgyzstan in Afghan Pamir, Great Wall of China, Indian Sodhu, caravan at the Taj Mahal...
Their fame was forged thanks to the numerous publications of their photos and stories. The "National Geographic" titled Winter Caravan to the Roof of the World on their 1970-1971 winter crossing of the vast icy mountains of Afghan Pamir to share the daily life of the Kyrgyz people in camel caravans at 4,000 m altitude.
