Very decorative Chochin traditional lantern.
Nice and original hanging lantern from the Taisho period.
The lamp is foldable and has a black lacquered wooden top and base both decorated with copper familycrests "mon" hardware .
The general depicted is Ogasawara Hidemasa 小 笠原 秀 政 公, (1596-1667) who had distinguished himself on the side of the Tokugawa in the struggle to establish Tokugawa rule.
Also known as the Lord of Matsumoto Castle.
The black wooden base has a small access hatch to change the candle, however it is also possible to hang a modern electrical socket inside the lantern since the top part is open.
At the top a black steel support to hang the lamp.
