Medal of military operations in East Africa
Established on 5 May 1936 with Royal Decree no. 1150 of 27 April 1936.
it was awarded to those who had participated in military operations in Italian East Africa.
Minted in bronze, on the obverse bears the effigy of Victor Emmanuel III, King of Italy and Emperor of Ethiopia, and on the reverse it depicts a fasces at the left, the inscription "Africa Orientale" at the top, above the Amba Alagi, famous Ethiopian plateau, location of several bloody battles, and the motto "Molti nemici - Molto onore" by Mussolini at the bottom.
It was created by Perrone (signed on the obverse), engraved by Romagnoli (signed on the reverse) and minted by the Royal Mint (see the crowned Z).
PLEASE NOTE: the GLADIUS ON THE RIBBON means that the recipient was a soldier and that he participated in the war.
