Kwan-yu is the famous general of the second century that was deified as the God of war in 1594.
He is represented here standing, stroking his long beard with his left hand and holding his traditional attribute ,the Chinese halberd in his right hand.
Kwan-yu was from a poor background and started by making a living selling beans in the province of Shan-si, and spending all his free time learning about military science.
It is said that with Gen-toku and Chô-hi they performed a sort of brotherhood oath in the peach garden of Chô-hi.
He used his military knowledge to help Gen-toku become the Emperor of one of the three Chinese kingdoms.
He was killed in 219 by the famous Chinese general Son-ken. He is considered in China as the protector of the literary scholars and as one of the gods of literature.
Overall very good condition. Some age wear signs with a few small checks
