Shunga book with 12 large erotic paintings, aquarel on paper,.
The paintings are very well and detailed painted with nice soft coloring, see photo’s.
Front and back of the book are covered with brown silk.
The Japanese word Shunga means picture of spring; “spring” is a common euphemism for sex.
There are two simple paintings on the first and last pages, showing a mountain with some whirling leafs on the first one. And some maple leafs falling on the last one, representing fall. The last on has a tear in the upper left corner. Small tear in the last page (see last 2 pictures) but overall in good original condition.
with some signs of wear.
Size of each painting; L.: 42 cm x W.: 30,5 cm. So each painting is full size on two pages of the book.
