George J. Bull was an American physician who did research at the Sorbonne in Paris, along with Dr. Javal.
The optometer consists of a 57 cm long slat with a screw-off handle at the bottom. On one side there is an inspection hole with 3 lenses that can be placed in the front (+5.00, +10.00, -10.00). On the slat itself there is a kind of dial. The following scales are also applied to the bar: one in cm, one in dioptres and one in thumbs and a scale corresponding to age.
An identical model is located in the University Museum in Utrecht. The original (French) instructions for use are present. The transport box is slightly damaged.
