An exquisite piece from Camusso Italian silversmith active in Peru.
The head of Minerva. Minerva was an important goddess in ancient Rome. The name of this goddess signifies her as a truly Italic deity. However, the influence of the religion of the Etruscans, which called their goddess Menrva, lent power in very ancients times from their customs that relate to her worship. Minerva is a personification of the divine power of the mind, the ingenuity, of the human spirit and of wisdom. She is often depicted with an owl and a spear. In addition, she is significant as the protector of the castles of cities, as the Sabines revered her, and the concept of the Etruscans, who regarded her as both the goddess, who hurled down lightning and as the inventor of all that is useful and pleasant for human life. Especially the invention of the flute was attributed to her by them.
The statue is placed on a marble base.
