An exceptional pair of beautifully carved, richly decorated bas-relief antique wood panels.
Expertly executed with minute detail on aged cherry wood panels with each depicting an allegorical scene of the Greek goddess Euterpe, at leisure, charmingly accompanied by two music-playing cherubs, each performing on a different instrument. Carved from a sturdy piece of wood cut to an appealing oval and concave shape. It measures 24.3cm by 12.3cm. The panels are not flat as customary, but concave, thus higher in their respective middles. Probably crafted by a French/Italian master artist in early to mid 19th century. The rare artwork remains in an outstanding state of preservation after almost two centuries with no dents nor breakage. Secure packing and prompt dispatch via UPS or DHL Express.
