Rare ivory okimono, wonderful quality, depicting a figure collecting giant bamboo, holding a hatchet in hand, he prepares to get to work. It still features traces of the original polychrome.
Signed Ryūdō 龍洞 under the base.
In very good overall condition with minor veining and wear consistent with age.


Japanese artefact from the Meiji period.
The item was made prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations regarding the sale of ivory.
