Old Russian icon from the 19th century. It depicts St. George as a dragon slayer". Hand painted with egg tempera colours on one with chalk base. Typical method of icon production in 18th and 19th century tsarist Russia. The painting is not very detailed and rather simple. The saints are labelled. The inscriptions are clearly legible.
OF NOTE: In the upper right corner you can find Arabic inscriptions? Never seen in this form and rather atypical.
The icon is in good condition with typical age-related traces of wear (see photos). The painting was varnished. Partial restorations are present. The wooden board is slightly curved. Two transverse sponkis are installed on the back.
Certainly an interesting exhibit for collectors and connoisseurs.
All details are clearly visible in the photos. The photos are part of the description.
