Antique Russian icon, or four-field icon from the 19th In the 19th century, with the depiction of the "God Mother's Joy of All Sufferers" as well as "God's Mother relieve my sorrow" and two others. Hand-painted with egg tempera colours on a wooden panel with chalk background and on golden primer. Typical method of icon production in the 18th and 19th century tsarist Russia. Pretty fine, detailed painting. The icon was probably created in an old-faith icon workshop around 1850. Bright, warm colours. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. The painting has minimal craquelure. Partial restorations are present. The icon is in good condition with typical age-related signs of wear and tear in the form of scratches, paint flaking and bumps, especially at the edge (see photos). All saints are labelled. The labels are partially difficult to read. At the top and bottom are two front sponkis.
All details are clearly visible in the photos. The photos are part of the description.
A special icon for connoisseurs and collectors as well as lovers of Russian icon painting.
