Antique Russian icon “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker" with four marginal saints, as well as Christ and The Mother of God. Hand-painted with egg tempera colours on a wooden panel with chalk background and on golden primer. Typical method of icon production in the 18th and 19th century in tsarist Russia. The icon was created in the 19th century, around 1870, Relatively detailed representation of the saints. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. The icon has been restored quite strongly. Many corrections and overpaintings available (see photos). The icon is in good condition with typical age-related traces of wear (see photos). All saints are labelled. The inscriptions are clearly legible. Heavy, solid wooden board. The wooden board is slightly curved. Both transverse wooden laths are present on the back.
