An authentic double battle flail from France.
The battle flail is a medieval weapon type consisting of a shaft with a chain at the end.
The end of the chain is weighted with 2 metal spheres, which are equipped with metal tips.
This type of flail most probably originated during the medieval crusades from another type of flail used at the time.
Because the steel ball was attached to a chain, it was a good weapon to use against enemies with a shield.
Size shaft 44 cm and the chain with sphere length 25 cm and 20 cm.
Ca late 19th century.
