The Diver: lithograph poster expressly designed by David Hockney for the 1972 Olympic Games.
Printed date and signature on bottom right.
David Hockney was one of Pop Art's greatest performers. Born in England, he moved to California, where he immediately portrayed the urban landscape and culture of the 'Golden State', via an unprecedented use of light.
David, still alive and counted among the most famous contemporary artists (text written in March 2014), has experimented with painting, drawing, printmaking, watercolours, photography. He undertook many trips to the United States and then settled permanently in California. The figurative element becomes for the artist the cornerstone of his entire artistic production plays which, as already mentioned above, is not limited to painting alone. Hockney also made photographic collages using his old, beloved "Polaroid".
