Tzantza Shrunken Head
Tsantsa, tzantza or shrunken head is the practice of the indigenous Shuar-Jíbaro people (South America) of "shrinking heads". This procedure made the warrior mummify and preserve the heads of his enemies as a talisman and war trophy.
The practice of head reduction originally had a religious meaning, by shrinking the enemy's head it was believed that they possessed the spirit of the enemy and forced him to serve his owner, thus preventing his spirit from taking revenge. It also served as an intimidating instrument for enemies and as a war trophy to be proudly displayed by the victor.
This incredibly decorative piece is contemporary, handcrafted in the image and likeness of the originals, with animal skin, natural hair, fibers, beetle wings, feathers and treated natural elements, making it perfectly legal to ship, own and display in any country in the world.
A certificate of originality issued and signed by the artist (Pau Delacó) is included. He has several pieces in various museums and cabinets of curiosities in several countries around the world.
