In 1878, James Martin set up a small wine and spirits business in Edinburgh
Sparry, his nickname from his boxing days in his youth, aimed to create a great Scotch whisky and devoted himself to this in the following years, with evident and (almost) immediate success
He argued that ten years was the minimum ageing period required to create a quality whisky
Ten years later, in 1888, he won his first gold medal at the World Competition in Brussels.
He repeated the feat in Antwerp in 1899.
Throughout the 21st century, it has won five more awards, including the gold medal in 2012 in the Best 13 to 20 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky category
The James Martin's brand belongs to The Glenmorangie Company, which is part of the luxury group LVMH - Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
In 2013, Glenmorangie decided to stop regularly marketing James Martin's whisky worldwide, changing the business model and transforming it into a luxury collector's brand, with occasional launches of limited and exclusive editions, focused almost exclusively on the Portuguese market.
2021: launch of the 32-year edition.
2023: launch of the 35-year edition.
2025/2026: launch of the 44-year collection. The second edition is expected to hit the market in February 2026.
James Martin's 20 Years Old Fine & Rare is a premium Scotch whisky aged for two decades in oak casks.
It's distinguished by its smoothness and depth, reflecting a commitment to high-quality distillation.
It's a distinctive choice by connoisseurs for its complex profile and exceptional character and also highly prized by collectors for the limited availability.

The set is original, duly authenticated and in excellent condition despite being 30 years old.
