Chimu, Perú Plata Tamba - Pendiente. 4 cm de diámetro. 1100 - 1400 d.C. Licencia de importación española.

Tamba - Earring with birds - nice decoration - Chimu, Perú, 1100 - 1200 AD Silver DIMENSIONS: 4 x 2.1 cm PROVENANCE: - Private collection, Paris, France, since 1970. - Thence by descdent, until 2024 to public auction. -Spanish import/export license. CONDITION: Good condition, see photos. Chimú artisans were skilled in feather art, wood carving, mat making and working with shells and semiprecious stones. From close relations with their Lambayeque neighbors, whom they would eventually incorporate into their empire, the goldsmiths perfected the techniques to produce copper, silver and gold prestige goods, such as cups, ear flares or masks, used especially in ceremonial ceremonies by the nobles. The textiles of this culture were a prestigious and influential craft that spread throughout the northern and central coast of Peru, even rivaling the tradition of fine tapestries that characterized the textiles of the Wari and Tiwanaku empires. They made a wide range of textiles, with special emphasis on the manufacture of costumes composed of different garments that share a common style, most of them for ceremonial use or consecrated to funerary offerings. The Chimú pottery, although it picked up many of the elements of the immediately preceding creations, especially the preference for bottles with modeled figures of the most varied species, stood out for returning to one of the most ancient Andean traditions. Similar to the Chavín culture, the Chimú potters preferred their pieces to have only a shiny black appearance on their surface. The seller guarantees that he acquired this piece according to all national and international laws related to the ownership of cultural property. Provenance statement seen by Catawiki. The piece includes authenticity certificate. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged.
