Beautiful early Leica 1a. Serial number 9645, so it is from 1928. With dimpled mushroom shutter button.
Type 4 according to Von Einem. From serial number 7025 on, this type has a dent in the release button, to give a cable release more grip.
This type was kept until around serial no. 12100.
The camera is in nice condition with fine user’s patina. No dents or bigger scratches. The vulcanite is completely intact and it is a coarser type than the later 1a models. With the distinctive peep hole on the back. Through this hole, the technician calibrated the lens, after which the camera was made lightproof again by placing this stopper.
The lens is completely original, without serial number. Brassing on the lens casing, caused y sliding in and out.
The uncoated glass of the lens is in particularly beautiful condition. The aperture and distance setting can be adjusted smoothly and the diaphragm blades are clean.
The shutter speeds all sound like they run well.
Used a few years ago with a roll of film.
The photos give a good impression of the external condition and authenticity.
