The Serpent ring, a special version of the classic cabochon ring designed by Lalique in 1931. Here the cabochon is carved in the form of delicate scales, which mimic the skin of the reptile. The snake is a recurring icon in jewellery, symbol of elegance and seduction. It inspired René Lalique in numerous creations.
The Maison Lalique's range of jewellery, mainly inspired by nature (both flora and fauna), was very fashionable both in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He is currently enjoying a new resurgence of interest in them.
Lalique is considered one of the best glassmakers in the world. The contrast between transparency and glossy achieves the maximum expression in the purity of the glass, creating the so-called ‘Lalique effect’, so recognised today, and which can be seen in this piece.
The ring is made of ANTINEA green glass, with opalescent milky nuances whose reflections change hue according to the lighting it receives (photos were taken with natural light). This colour is one of the most valued of the entire colour range of the brand's jewellery and, associated with the snake figure, makes this ring an icon of seduction. It is in perfect condition, without scratches or signs of wear. (Please look closely at the photographs to assess the condition yourself, they are part of the description). It’s laser engraved at the bottom with an inscription that reads ‘Lalique France’. Size 54 (14).
The original box of the brand is not present. The one shown in the photos is only for display purposes. It’s not original. It comes in a standard jewellery box shown in the last three photographs. It will be carefully packaged.
