◆50 sen 五拾銭 / Itagaki Taisuke 板垣退助 Size: 6×10.8 cm Number of banknotes: 100 50sen × 100 The “Japanese Government Banknote Itagaki Taisuke 50 sen” issued in 1948 (March 10, 1948) and discontinued in 1953 (December 31, 1953). The portrait is of the Japanese samurai and politician “Itagaki Taisuke 板垣退助,” and on the back is a photograph of the National Diet Building.These small-denomination banknotes were used in Japan after World War II. ◆10 sen 拾銭 / pigeon 鳩 Hato Size: 5×10.5 cm Number of banknotes: 100 10sen × 100 It was issued in 1947 and discontinued in 1953. On the right side of the front side is "pigeon" , a symbol of peace, and on the left side of the back side is the "National Diet Building", a symbol of democracy. Since it was produced during the chaotic period immediately after the war, it is characterized by its crude printing with no watermark. In addition, since it was printed by several private printers, there are differences in the finish of each. These are banknotes used in Japan just after World War II, and many are damaged.
