LINGE DE TABLE VICTORIEN FRANÇAIS - Lin - Début du XXe siècle

Description
LINGE DE TABLE VICTORIEN FRANÇAIS - Lin - Début du XXe siècle
France

This is one of 4 table linen "reclaimed" from the Chateau at Brantôme.
This damask table linen was not used for the main rooms in the chateau apparently ,but for the staff quarters and for the weekend only. During the week they would deck the staff dining tables with the so very French plastic flowered pieces, which even now you can still buy at the old fashioned haberdashery shops ,if they stil exists in certain towns.
The couturière staff members were allowed to embroider a staff members initials on them. There are in fact two sets of initials on top and bottom. They are all in perfect condition and by the looks of it little used.
It is a tender design with plenty of flora at top and edgings. They just loved to be used again and get a new life.
