SERVIETTES VICTORIENNE FRANÇAISE (8) - Lin - Début du XXe siècle

Description
SERVIETTES VICTORIENNE FRANÇAISE (8) - Lin - Début du XXe siècle
France

8 remaining napkins from the 12 there would have been original. As already memorised prior the French would always take out the front serviettes from the armoires where the linen would be kept and which they were so proud off as it were almost always wedding gifts from the families and only would come out for special occasions and was thus rarely used which means that we can now profit from still excellent linen.
The initials H.B. are sympathetically embroidered with on each letter a small "couronne" of pearl stitching with a small branch with some leaves. They are sitting in a oval wreath of flowers. The centre is dotted with the same couronne which is very cleverly designed. The borders are framed with large castellated variation of Greek Key design. The edgings have a continual garland of open roses covering each Greek key and it really has been achieved with a "beautiful story". We have taken many photos particularly of the design
