This is the second set of Napoleon 111 table linen dating back to the 1870's when it was first introduced to the French and became instantly popular because of the fresh red colours. It carried on to be popular until the 20s when it lost its appeal and was put back into the armoires and did not come out again until recently when it has made a come back. Apart from having to soak it into soda because of decennia having been left in the armoires it is surprising the excellent state it is still in. This table linen lost it's napkins, but from the same source we found these napkins. They blend in perfect with the table linen and are framed with a continuation of oak leaves. The initials P.L. are hand embroidered , very well done as the letters are open and not solid and every one is just slightly different. (55X65CM) There were 5 only so to make up we have added a single one with the initials (60X67CM)
The table linen has vertical and horizontal vibrant red lines and are filled with semi open roses, buds and leaves.
Please note the condition is excellent, but these are vintage items.
(there is a small spot on the linen, please see last photo)
