This photo is part of a special edition of Industrial Landscapes, printed on brushed aluminium. This creates a spectacular industrial look that fits beautifully with the subjects of this series. The structure of the brushed aluminium remains clearly visible throughout the photo.
The inspiration for my photo series on industrial landscapes, and the individual objects in it, comes from the pioneers in this field, Bernd and Hilla Becher. They were the first to systematically photograph industrial landscapes and objects, to register them.
I don’t want to just register them, but above all show their beauty, by emphasising the structure and shape of the objects. Objects with distinctive and interesting shapes that are an expression of technical and economic considerations and principles and not from traditional ideas about design and architecture. It is design and architecture determined by technique.
