This is the second batch of napkin pochettes ( envelopes )
with the provenance of the Chateau at Brantome.
We found the entire 14 left in one of the linen armoires and have not been used for a long time as the Chateau has not been live in or decennia and the large dinners parties are just history now and a reminder of the sumptuous festivities, preparations, decking and dressing the large dinner table for 24
family members, not forgetting the often very rowdy suppers after a day's shoot at the 1000 HA Estate.
Every family member apparently had its own private napkin pochette.
They are all more or less hand made in the Richelieu manner and hand embroidered. All are of course different and each one has its own history going back to the late 1800's.
