LINGE DE LINGE VICTORIENNE - Lin - Fin du XIXe siècle

Description
LINGE DE LINGE VICTORIENNE - Lin - Fin du XIXe siècle
France

This piece again was found abandoned at the chateau in Brantôme
and withe same bed linen as the others. Completely shredded apart from the top. So we cut everything away and landed up with these spectacular two initials B.R. They are entirely hand embroidered and beautifully done with panache and beauty.
These letters would normally have been bought at a haberdashery shop and already shaped and all they did was to attach it to the linen and then sew over it many times to resemble hand embroidery which of course was true in a way. However if you look carefully at the designs of the initials there is no way these letters could have been purchased from a shop as they are not continuous and in one piece.
You can either blind stitch it to the top of a plain bed linen, make it into a pillow case, scatter cushion or apply it to the centre of a roman blind or a valance.
