Silkscreen by Swiss expressionist painter and theorist Johannes Itten (1888-1967) from a series of four published in his 1961 book “Kunst der Farbe”. Printed circa 1993, edition of 75.
Itten was closely associated with the Bauhaus school where he taught for several years and together with Lyonel Feininger, Gerhard Marcks, and under the direction of German architect Walter Gropius, formed the core of the Bauhaus in Weimar.
His studies of colour palettes and colour interaction directly influenced the Op Art movement and other colour abstraction based movements that included artists such as Josef Albers, Max Bill, Bridget Riley, and the expressionist works of Wassily Kandinsky.
Condition: Excellent; it has never been framed.
