In 1947, with Consagra, Dorazio, Guerrini, Perilli, Sanfilippo (married in 1949), and Turcato, she founded the “Forma 1” group.
Since the sixties, Carla Accardi recovered a language focused on the sign-colour relationship, highlighting the colour value in luminescent duotones. In 1964 she was present at the Venice Biennale with a personal room.
She was invited to the Venice Biennale in 1976, in 1978, and to many solo and group exhibitions, participating in retrospective exhibitions of the “Forma 1” group and the Italian avant-garde of the fifties.
She exhibited at the 1988 Venice Biennale and was present in the main historic exhibitions of Italian art of our century in Italy and abroad (among others, Italian Art in the XXth Century, Royal Academy, London, 1989 and The Italian Metamorphosis 1943-1968, Guggenheim Museum, New York, 1994); she participated in important international exhibitions such as Chambres d’amis (Ghent, 1986).
