Italo Bressan was born in Vezzano (Trento) on 1 May 1950. He attended the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and has been teaching painting there since 1983. In 1992 he was appointed to hold the chair of Painting at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino, and since 2002 he has had the same role at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.
The core of Italo Bressan’s production, documenting its inner consistency, is the deep sense of a colour richness which aims to define, develop and evolve a precise expressive code.
