Louis Pevernagie was a Belgian expressionist painter. He exhibited with other expressionists such as Gustaaf De Smet, Hubert Malfait, Albert Saverys and Maurice Schelck and was friends with Rik Slabbinck. His artistic work is characterised by an intense power in which one can recognise the atmosphere of the masters of Sint-Martens-Latem. As in the work offered, his approach is both rough and subtle at the same time.
