In hoc volumine haec continentur, ioannis baptistae egnatii ... de cesaribus libri iii a dictatore caesare ad constantinum palaeologum, hinc a carolo magno ad maximilianum caesarem ; iusdem in spartiani, lampridiique vitas et reliquorum annotationes. nervae et traiani atque adriani principum vitae ex dione, georgio merula interprete. aelius spartianus, iulius capitolinus ... ab eodem egnatio castigati ; addita in calce heliogabali principis ad meretrices elegantissima oratio non ante impressa ; insuper oratio aristidis de urbe romana a scipione carteromacho latinitate donata.

In 1521, Egnazio edited a new edition for Froben, with the observations of Erasmus. The Twelve Ceasars by Svetonius has long been a basic handbook for all scholars of Roman history.
The book deals mainly with the lives of Roman emperors (from Julius Caesar to Constantine) and the Holy Roman Empire (from Charlemagne to Maximilian).
Premium parchment binding with titles on the spine.
Very well preserved.
Voluminous in terms of pages, 108 unnumbered sheets + 422 sheets numbered on the front only + register page + page with Aldine mark (still Aldus).
Please note only a very tiny hole through some of the first unnumbered pages.
Otherwise in excellent condition.
