Two folio volumes of DUNOZETI’s ‘Legge Canonica’. Full parchment with title handwritten on the spine. First and second part - complete.
First edition, contemporary to the Venetian edition of the same year in two volumes of the “Decisiones” by Dunozeti, dean of the Holy Roman Rota.
The work is a collection of judgments, which, according to custom, acquire legal value. Each case is detailed in the argomentum, the summarium clarifies the development of the process while the decisione explains, with detailed citations of the source of the law, the opinions of the magistrate and the conclusions of the trial.

Title of volume one: Mellifluae Decisiones Bo: Mem: R.mi P.D. Amati Dunozeti Sacrae Rotae Romanae Decani Celeberrimi. In Duas Partes Distinctae, Ex originalibus depromptae, suis necessarijs fulcitae, triplicique Index Argumentorum, Decisionum, & materiarum instructae. Ad Emenentissimum, et reverendiss. Principem D. D. Petrum Otthobonum S. R. E. TIT. S. Marci Cardinalem Amplissimum. Sanctiss. Domini Nostri Clementis IX. Prodatarium & C. Romae, Ex Typographia Reverendae Camerae Apostolicae, 1668 Superiorum Permissu, & Privilegio.

Description of volume one: folio (approximately 334 x 224 mm), pp. (2) blank + title page + (42) Index Causarum and Index Argumentorum + 880 text + (2) blank, woodcut coat of arms of Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni, to whom the work was dedicated, on the title page, which is printed in red and black. Woodcut headers and friezes, text on two columns. Full parchment with title handwritten on the spine.

Condition of volume one: The volume is in more than good condition inside, a little mildew and a few sporadic browned pages. The panels of the volume are in good condition and hold up (the front one is slightly loose), while the spine has some missing parchment (as pictured), it can be left as it is or restored.

Ex originalibus depromptae, suis necessarijs fulcitae, triplicique Index Argumentorum, Decisionum, & materiarum instructae. Pars Seconda Ad Emenentissimum, et reverendiss. Principem D. D. Petrum Otthobonum S. R. E. TIT. S. Marci Cardinalem Amplissimum. Sanctiss. Domini Nostri Clementis IX. Prodatarium & C. Romae, Ex Typographia Reverendae Camerae Apostolicae, 1668 Superiorum Permissu, & Privilegio.

Description of volume two: folio (approximately 330 x 232 mm), pp. (2) + title page + (18) dedication and index argomentorum + 499 + (1) blank + (248) various index + (4) blank. Red and black title page, woodcut coat of arms, printed in red and black, of Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni, to whom the work is dedicated. Woodcut headers and friezes, text on two columns. Full parchment with title handwritten on the spine.

Condition of volume two: The second volume is more than good condition, typical signs of ageing, slight redness, some rare mildew. Overall in very good condition inside, with very firm pages. The full parchment cover looks okay, some slight cuts on top and bottom between panel and spine.

Weight of both volumes: 4.4 kg.
