Six marble coasters with inlays of special (semi) gemstones, such as malachite, onyx, jasper and abalone.
These beautiful marble works of art are made by an ancient technique (the Pietra Dura technique) that has been practiced in India for many generations and is a traditional art passed down through generations and families. Each piece of marble inlays is handmade in Agra (India) by local skilled craftsmen. The crystals are cut into thin slices and then inserted into the marble.
The most famous oldest monument where this technique was used is the Taj Mahal. This can also be seen in mother-of-pearl on one of the coasters.
The coasters have some damage to the edges.
