New edition hardback of THE LITTLE GIRL AT CAPERNAUM by Enid Blyton, illustrated by Elsie Walker and published by Lutterworth Press in 1955. Signed 'best wishes' by Blyton on the front endpaper. Includes a letter from a previous owner describing how they came to be in possession of this signed book.
The book is in very good condition (orange cloth boards with brown lettering to spine and front) with light bumping to the top corners of the front and back boards, light creasing to the bottom edge of the back board as well as the top and bottom of the spine and some light age staining to both boards and spine. The page edges are lightly age spotted. The book is in a good clipped dust jacket which is protected in an archival sleeve and has small tears here and there along with some light rubbing and creasing to the edges of both covers and spine. Internally the pages are lightly age tanned but are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
It is the story of Jarus' daughter which Miss Blyton tells here, as vividly as she told the story of the Boy With the Loaves and Fishes. Not only is it an enchanting piece of story-telling: Lutterworth Press, as religious publishers recommended it as a sound children's introduction to the beautiful Bible stories in the Gospels themselves. And what Miss Blyton does with her text, Miss Elsie Walker faithfully duplicates in her illustrations.
64 pages including Foreword.
