Histoire, Histoire militaire, Militaria, Grenade, maure - Quantité : 1 - Livre

A volume in 8º (15.7 x 10.8 cm) bound in antique parchment.

6 sheets, including the title page, 331 pp.

There is no year of printing for this edition, but it is estimated as circa 1730.

First published in 1627, it recounts the background and development of the so-called Rebellion of the Alpujarras, the military uprising of the Granada population of Muslim origin that occurred between 1568 and 1571. It would conclude with the definitive expulsion in 1609 of the last Moors who lived in Spain. Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, former ambassador to Venice and Rome, and one of the Spanish Italianist poets, he was an exceptional witness, lucid and disenchanted with a conflict that involved the destruction of Granada and, in more ways than one sense, the end of the Andalusian chivalric aristocracy.

Good copy, clean and in good condition.
