Beautiful brand of Aldo Manuzio.
First rare edition of the Italian translation of the History of Flanders, written by Cornejo de Pedrosa, with a translation by Camillo Camilli, poet and translator, born in Siena and died in Ragusa in 1615.

Pedro Cornejo de Pedrosa (1536 – March 31, 1618) was a Spanish humanist, professor at the University of Salamanca (see Salmanticenses).
During his lifetime he was renowned as an interpreter of St. Thomas Aquinas. His fame, in fact, was so great that Philip III of Spain turned to him for advice on important matters.

Aldine brand on the title page. Coeval full parchment binding, redone smooth spine. Pp. [8], 233, [1], 2 blank, woodcut drop caps and headpieces in the text. Browning, woodworm stains, spots, and slight defects. Handwritten notes on the title page. A beautiful copy with wide margins, well bound and complete.

Similarly, when he went to Rome - for the general elections - it is said that Cardinal Roberto Bellarmino consulted with him on several occasions, while Pope Paul V, hearing him speak, called him "a true doctor of the Church of God".
