PROVENANCE: Private collection Damià Mateu (1864 – 1935), Barcelona. He was a Spanish politician and businessman. In 1904, in collaboration with Francisco Seix and the Swiss engineer Marc Birking, they created the famous luxury vehicle "Hispano-Suiza".
Damià Mateu constitutes one of the largest collections of archeology and artistic works in general from the beginning of the 20th century in Catalonia. In 1932 he exhibited his collection of oriental art at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Barcelona.
