Made in February 2024, the table is entirely handmade and crafted from solid oak. Special attention has been paid to selecting the most suitable materials. The tabletop showcases predominantly parallel fiber lines. This deliberate choice not only enhances the table's aesthetic, but also reinforces its strength, making it more resistant to bowing caused by temperature and humidity fluctuations over time.
My intention behind the general shape was changing the way a table is structured. As opposed to a tabletop that is placed on top of four legs, I thought I'd create a piece where the legs seem to "sandwich" the top. This lead to the current shape, where the tabletop looks as if it's wedged between the two legs.
The beam used on the underside of the table is reclaimed from an oak beam salvaged from a barn built on my property in the 1920s.
Measuring approximately 140cm x 60cm x 40cm, this coffee table is perfect for a stylish living-room
