A unique and rare blackmoor figure / candlestick
An exceptionally well carved, polychromed and leaf gilt candlestick.
Skilled wood carving with very refined and highly detailed facial expression.
Measuring circa 26 cm in height.
Depicting an elegant Nubian blackmoor standing on a round base.
Holding a leafed golden torch in his hand on which a candle can be placed.
Italy, circa 1950-1970, very fine work, both in the detail of carving and the polychromy.
Wood is probably fruitwood.
Condition: general condition is very good BUT >>> rennovation on the arm (see last pictures) and original candle wax drip catcher is missing. Some candlewax is still there, but I don't dare removing/cleaning it since i am not a professional.
Private collection
This lot will be carefully packaged in cardboard box with extra portection materials.
