Omega - Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch - 311.30.42.30.99.001 - Unisexe - 2010

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of a historic moment in space history, OMEGA released the Speedmaster Professional Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniversary Limited Edition, a watch that embodies the spirit of international cooperation and exploration. On July 17, 1975, during the Apollo-Soyuz mission, astronaut Lt. General Thomas P. Stafford and cosmonaut Lt. General Alexei A. Leonov met in the docking hatch that linked their spacecraft—marking the first time in history that spacecraft from different nations docked together in space. This groundbreaking event, symbolizing a new era of space collaboration, was made even more iconic by the fact that both men were wearing OMEGA Speedmaster Professional watches. This limited edition timepiece features a unique engraved caseback depicting the Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft flying over Metz, France, the location where the famous handshake took place. The intricate design serves as a tribute to this pivotal moment, capturing the essence of unity and shared achievement. One of the most striking features of this watch is its dial, made from a piece of meteorite, lending each timepiece an extraordinary and singular character. The meteorite's structure, shaped by the extreme temperatures it experienced while entering Earth’s atmosphere and its subsequent cooling period, ensures that no two dials are identical, making each watch in this limited edition series truly one-of-a-kind. The calibre 1861 was the natural evolution of the calibre 861 which had previously been used in many Moonwatch models. For the upgrade, it was made with a more corrosion-resistant rhodium-plating. As part of a limited series of only 1,975 pieces—honoring the year of the Apollo-Soyuz mission—this Speedmaster is not just a watch, but a piece of space history. It stands as a testament to the incredible achievements of human space exploration and the enduring legacy of international cooperation. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OUR WATCHES ARE CAREFULLY SERVICED BY OUR 13 WATCHMAKERS. The service includes movement cleaning in special equipment, oiling and accuracy adjustment.
