Early post-war deluxe Haggadah designed and illuminated by Kafra, published by Philipp Feldheim, New York, 1949 (Printed in U.S.A.). Conceived in the manner of a medieval Hebrew manuscript, the book features broad polychrome borders with subtle gilt, illuminated initials, miniature vignettes throughout, and elegant Hebrew calligraphy. Iconography includes the Exodus narrative, Ten Plagues, Temple/ritual scenes, and concluding songs, all framed by rich foliage and architectural ornaments reminiscent of 15th–16th-century Ashkenazic manuscripts. Title-page reads: “The Pessach Haggadah / Illuminated by Kafra / Feldheim Publisher, New York”; copyright leaf states: “Copyright 1949 by Philipp Feldheim, 45 Essex Street, New York, N.Y. / Printed in U.S.A.” Condition: • Original cream cloth with large Hebrew title; with the original dust jacket (edge wear, age-toning and a small tear/crease at upper margin—see photos). • Internally clean and bright: thick textured paper, strong impressions and vivid colors; occasional light foxing/handling to margins only; tight binding. • Overall Very Good internally; Good+ dust jacket.
